Add Fall Color with Garden Mums
Brighten your outdoor landscape this fall with a display of garden mums. Known for their abundant blooms in yellow, orange, rust, red, bronze, white and lavender, mums bloom from late summer through frost and one plant can boast over one hundred blossoms. Mums are frost tolerant and will bring color to your landscape long after other garden perennials have retreated for the season.
Mums are sold as container-grown plants this time of year and can be displayed in decorative containers or planted in the ground. If planting your mums, select a sunny area of your yard with well-drained soil. Plant them in the soil at the same level as they were growing in the container and place them two to three feet apart. Your mums will grow approximately one to three feet high. Classified as semi-hardy, mums should be covered during the winter with evergreen boughs to increase their chances of survival.
Stein Gardens & Gifts has a wide selection of mums to choose from. Visit our garden center today to select the varieties that are right for you and your family.
